Phase 1 of HDC’s Exemplary Buildings Program is its demonstration phase. This local pilot of our model will be based on the methodology used in successful implementations in Pennsylvania and in Brussels, Belgium. Work in this phase will determine the premium costs when truly integrative design, rigorous planning, and carefully controlled execution occur. Phase 1 sets the stage for the program scale-up and adoption of ultra-efficient standards that will occur in the program’s subsequent phases.
Our team is seeking a diverse set of demonstration projects to implement ultra-efficient building concepts across a variety of contexts. Generally, we will ask the developer to commit to building an ultra-efficient building while our team provides the technical support and funding needed so that there is no reduction of units produced.
